Development Welcomes New Energy

psnhtSpring has arrived on Potash Hill, and with it comes change and growth in our development department. Marlboro is so pleased to welcome our newest member to the team and announce the new role for a current member of the college community.

Pete Smith is Marlboro’s new director of Annual Giving, stepping into this role as Hillary Twining moves into the position of director of corporate & foundation relations. Most recently, Pete served as the associate director of institutional advancement with Landmark College in Putney, Vermont, where he came to admire the intimate and intellectual setting of a small college community.

“Marlboro College’s mission is close to my heart because it asks students to be informed by intellectual and artistic creativity and to discover new avenues for using their skills to improve their lives and benefit others,” Pete says. He is looking forward to meeting and working with Marlboro’s generous donors over the months ahead.

Prior to joining the development team Marlboro last year, Hillary worked for four years at the Boys & Girls Club of Brattleboro, where she developed grant proposals for a number of Vermont-based foundations and helped to administer the organization’s federal grant from the U.S. Department of Justice. In her new role, Hillary is responsible for working with faculty and staff on grant applications, coordinating all grant activity for Marlboro’s undergraduate and graduate campuses, and managing grants pre- and post-award.

Marlboro is fortunate to have people like Pete and Hillary, who want to be part of a learning community that values who they are and what they have to offer. The college looks forward to the positive impact of their enthusiasm and strong work ethic on our entire community.
