Marlboro College was pleased to be included in this year’s edition of The Princeton Review’s popular college guide, The Best 384 Colleges, made available on August 7, 2018. Marlboro received top ranking for “Most Active Student Government” (sixth) and “Professors Get High Marks” (11th), based on surveys of 138,000 students at colleges and universities across the country.
“Shared governance is in Marlboro’s DNA, with its Town Meetings and committee structure giving students a voice in everything from curriculum to housing,” said Marlboro President Kevin Quigley. “It is fitting that the college ranks high on ‘Most Active Student Government,’ and of course our faculty are always receiving high ratings for their engaging academic mentorship.”
The overall academic rating for Marlboro was 93 out of 99, with a 99 rating for “professors interesting” and a 93 for “professors accessible.” The students surveyed by the Princeton Review suggest that Marlboro is a place where academics take priority, where the curriculum is self-directed with guidance from inspiring faculty, and where one can grow both academically and personally.
“Marlboro College promises ‘academic freedom’ and a strong ‘sense of community.’ And it delivers both in spades,” says the guide, quoting student surveys. “Marlboro tends to attract the type of people who could easily be defined as ‘curious creators’ and ‘intellectual explorers. Students proudly proclaim that their peers are ‘extremely passionate about what they are studying’ and really ‘engage with the material.”
